Our hearts go out to Charlottesville and to our country, and we lift up our prayers for Heather Heyer, who was killed, and for the injured victims. May we turn to the answer of all truth, hope and love, our Savior Jesus Christ.

Fr. John’s article in this week’s coming bulletin talks about the horrible event in Charlottesville, Virginia, and his headline quotes the Prayer in the Spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, “Lord, Make Me an Instrument of Your Peace. Where there is Hatred, let me sow LOVE.” He reminds us of the scripture “for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples, [says the Lord]” (Isaiah 56:7b). He quotes what the Catechism says in (CCC 1935) about the equality of all peoples and tells us what the US Catholic Bishops say about racism. We are guided by our Catholic Christian values and stand united in our faith. Be sure to read the bulletin for the full article.
