Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion at Mass

Assist the Ordinary Minister of Holy Communion (the Priest or Deacon) with the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass

Time: 1 hour twice a month.

Talent: Love for the Eucharist & and for those in need of food and shelter.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion who take communion to the sick of our parish in the hospital, or to the homebound, and/or to those who live in assisted care centers. If interested please email Deacon Mike at: deaconmikedemers@yahoo.com

Time: Usually one visit per week.

Talent: Compassion, patience and a willingness to go to the sick.

An advisory group mandated by Church law to assist the Pastor in the management of the parish finances. Meetings are held quarterly throughout the year.

Time: 2 hours on a Friday at the end of each quarter for lunch (provided) meeting; additional 2 meetings for budget planning.

Talent: Willingness to advise the Pastor. Knowledge of finance and accounting.

On First Fridays at Holy Faith the Blessed Sacrament is exposed after the 9:30am Mass in the Chapel. The standard hour service can be found in the Exposition Worship Booklet. From 10:00am to 11:00am during the first hour of Adoration we pray a Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The hour from 11:00am to 12:00 Noon is a quiet time for prayer, reflection and adoration. We especially pray for the sick and suffering in our parish and families. The hour concludes with the praying of the Angelus and Reposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

Ministry groups and all parishioners are especially invited to participate in one of these hours of Eucharistic Exposition and Adoration.

From 7:00pm to 8:30pm there is Exposition and Adoration (see worship booklet for format), ending with Benediction.

Time: 1 hour of prayer in the presence of Jesus exposed.

Talent: A desire to celebrate the Liturgy of Eucharistic Adoration and intercede for the Church and the world.

Located in the Ministry Center, the gift shop (non-profit) provides parishioners with devotional materials and religious articles, and can special order any items you may like. The store is open Monday through Friday, 10:00am to Noon; and Sunday after the morning Masses.

Time: 3 hours 1 day a week, or 1 to 2 hours on a Sunday.

Talent: Responsible.

In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth. Girl Scouts currently have troops meeting at local Catholic churches. We welcome girls Kindergarten through 12th grade and encourage parents, friends and mentors who are interested in leadership to contact the Girl Scout Service Center at 352-376-3004. Time: 1 weekly meeting plus camp-outs and service.

Talent: Leadership, organization and enthusiasm.

Treasure: Nominal Fee.

The Golden Gators are a Social Club for men and women 55+. They meet on the 3rd Friday of the month, September through May in the Upper Hall at Holy Faith. Fellowship begins at 10:30 am followed by a short business meeting at 11:00 am. There are programs each month on topics such as: Health Care, Gardening and New Drugs, or Entertainment. A “Dutch Treat” luncheon is served and everyone brings somthing to share along with a non-perisible food item donation for the Catholic Charities Pantry.

Time: 2 hours once a month.

Talent: Gather with friends from all parishes for a monthly meeting and potluck luncheon.

Treasure: Yearly membership fee – $15

A team of two or three will pray with anyone who needs healing for physical or spiritual illness or woundedness, for greater spiritual freedom and openness to the Holy Spirit.

Time: Depends on individual need and availability.

Talent: Team members must have compassion and patience to pray for and with the sick and spiritually wounded; confidentiality.

Women parishioners who prepare crafts for the Annual Bazaar held in the fall of each year; proceeds go to outreach the poor. This group meets Tuesdays from 10:00 am to 2:00pm in the Ministry Center Conference Rm 2. (see Pics from the 2016 HoFa Crafts Bazaar below)

Time: 4 hours per week.

Talent: Crafty and creative – interested in fellowship with other parishioners with similar interests.

Treasure: Some materials for craft making. Proceeds of Bazaar fund the charitable Deacon’s Fund for the poor.
