Fr. Emmanuel’s Mothers’ Day Message and Blessing: (May 10, 2020) 

As we celebrate Mothers’ day on this Sunday I wish all mothers in our Holy Faith Parish a most Happy Mothers’ day.  On this day we celebrate the unconditional love of mothers to their children and children’s love for their mothers.  “Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.   Love never fails.” (1 Cor.  Ch. 13)

We acknowledge the tremendous impact mothers have on their children. It is said “if you educate a man you educate one individual and if you educate a woman you educate a family.”  Let us gratefully admit the fact that none of us is able to return to our mothers, in the same measure, all the sacrificial love that they have given us.  Today I will offer the Mass for all the mothers in Holy Faith Parish, whether they are alive or have gone to their eternal reward, and offer them on the sacred altar.

On this Mothers’ day as we honor and pray for our earthly mothers let us also be reminded of our heavenly Mother, Blessed Virgin Mary.   The Catholic Church proclaims the great nobility of the mother of Jesus, Mary most holy, and presents her as the supreme model for all mothers and pray for her intercession and motherly care for all of us.

Now let us ask God’s special Blessing on all Mothers:

                    (hands extended over them)

Loving God,

As a mother gives life and nourishment to her children, so you watch over your Church.

Bless these women, that they may be strengthened as Christian mothers.

Let the example of their faith and love shine forth.

Grant that we, their sons and daughters,  may honor them always with a spirit of profound love and respect.

Grant this through Christ our Lord.   R: Amen.
